Wolves is Polish dark ambient music created by Gromowladny and Veles guitarist Lupus Wszesławiewicz under obscure circumstances in 1997. Joined by Aro of Perunwit, Lupus layers foreboding and portentous synth tones on top of Aro's ritualistic percussive patterns, providing the foundation of the work. Throughout each section, various instruments and sounds materialize, only to fade out or abruptly halt as the procession continues along its mysterious, hypnotic course. Wandering guitar in Lupus' characteristic abstract dreamy style sets the initial stage, followed by chanting, snarling and shouted proclamations to gloomy deities of the savage dark wood. An arcane droning horn joins the ceremony with discordant trumpet-like synths blaring over top. The proceedings continue until the wolves begin to howl as the rites are brought to their close with a final burst of drumming and growling.
